Christmas Joy

A Gingerbread house - thanks to Bayou Belle

MQ's appearance as a Shepherd in her school Christmas program went much better than her sullen appearance as Mary in our church pageant. She smiled, sang all of her songs, and most of the other kids' songs, too. Unfortunately all my pictures from the actual program came out blurry.
This is the only way you can make a snowman in Louisiana. Well, unless you have a fantastic grandparent who somehow manages to bring down three snowballs in her LUGGAGE that you can reassemble in your home (after running outside barefoot to get twigs for its arms) as my mother did nearly 2 years.
Either MQ arranged this nativity in her classroom, or all kindergartners think alike.
My 2 favorite Christmas presents.

Hope yours was merry. The May Queen is a bit under the weather, so we had a rough night, a late start to the day, and subdued festivities. I was busy with making meals (including our traditional fritters and chili), catching up with friends and relatives in 3 different countries, and trying to help MQ play with all her toys. After she went to bed the adults (my husband and my parents and I) played games. May I highly recommend a new game we received this year - Hoopla, by Cranium. Lots of fun, and everyone is on the same team.

Great pictures!

I'm so glad we got to chat, even though I was a bit...spacey...from my painkillers. :)

I like the cotton snowman. :) We didn't have snow, but we had a beautiful frost that clung to everything like...well, like frosting!

Merry Christmas!

I'm going with all kindergartners think alike because ours looks the same. :)

And how beautiful is your kindie girl, as always!

Yes, no snow here (that would be a cold day in...well, lol) but HEY! It cooled off and was in the 60s instead of the 80s so I could wear a lightweight sweater. felt more seasonal.

A snowball in luggage, Cool. ;)

Glad it has been merry.

She is beautiful!

I hope she is feeling much better. I was sick, sick, sick on Eve eve. But I'm much better now thanks to the gift of antibiotics. LOL.

I love the May Queen in her red dress - that's my idea of a dress! We have the original Cranium and love it - I'm going to have to try to get Hoopla. And I'm not sure it's only kindergarteners who arrange the creche that way - my dad got one for Christmas this year and he had everyone crowding in to see the newest arrival!

Wonderful pictures!

Another fun game - we (re)discovered Mastermind and played it for hours yesterday. Even our four year old participated.

Hope you're all doing well today.

She's just beaming with holiday joy! I hope she's feeling better by now. Your holiday sounds like so much fun and I'll have to check out Hoopla. We have a New Year's Eve tradition with good friends where we try to do a new game each year. Maybe this will be the one? :)

Oh how lovely to make it back to your place and see so much Christmas cheer. I loved Mayqueen's nativity interpretation and find it even more fascinating that other kindergartner's think the same way. They really do have it figured out don't they? And thanks for the tip on Hoopla, we have some Christmas money and I wanted to spend it on some games. Much love to you and your family.

Hoopla, eh? Going to have to try it. We are addicted to games around here. Another really fun one is Mad Gab, we played that one for hours Christmas night.
Glad it was a merry one. Hope MQ is feeling better, though.

Wonderful pictures. MQ is a beauty!
I'm kind of stuck on the "after the kids went to bed" comment. That just didn't happen here, well not before I was ready. There was no game playing on Christmas here:) Maybe tonight!

Your mom brought snowballs in her suitcase? You have an unusual mom. I'm sure you know this. That is one of the sweetest things I've ever read.
